Sig Sauer 1911 45ACP

The Sig 1911 is another great handgun from Sig Sauer. There are several versions and every year the models seem to get better. My 1911 is several years old, but it is still an excellent model. All of the 1911 manufacturers make great 45 ACPS. If you are buying your first 1911, I recommend trying several brands. It is like buying clothes, some brands fit each individual better than others. The pros for a 1911, in my opinion, 1) Historical weapon that is still great today. 2) Good home defense weapon. 3) Excellent stopping power. 4) Ammo is relatively inexpensive when buying a 1,000 rounds-30 to 35 cents per round. Cons 1) Expensive compared to polymer pistols. 2) Magazines hold 8 to 9 rounds compared to polymer 45 ACPS- 10 rounds. 3) Takes a little longer to clean compared to the modern polymer pistols. The 1911 was my primary weapon when I was a Military Policeman in the Army, and I would go to  the range quite a bit because I was broke most of the time and ammo was free. Some like the 1911 as a concealed carry pistol but, in my opinion, there are better choices. I posted two you tube videos on Sig 1911s that are informative and entertaining.
