Ruger Charger 22LR

The Ruger Charger is a very unusual gun. My first reaction when I saw this in a gun shop was, what is this and what is the purpose of it. Is it a rifle or a pistol? My second thoughts were (1) what a great gun to teach young children to shoot on a shooter’s table with a bi-pod. (2) what a great gun for someone who only has the use of one arm. (3) what a great gun for older people who don’t have the strength that goes away with age. (4) After my purchase and shooting the Charger, what a great plinker. The Ruger suggested retail is $309.00 and it comes with a bi-pod, and has a picatinny rail for mounting a red dot or a scope. I mounted the Sig Romeo red dot that was originally on one of my AR15s. I posted two targets that were 35 yards from my shooter’s table. The first I zeroed the red dot and shot with some wind. The second, no wind and rapid fire. I was also shooting eighteen inch steel at 150 yards and 200 yards. Once you establish the bullet drop, it is easy at 150 yards and a lot harder at 200 yards. The Charger comes with a fifteen round magazine, and I purchased three twenty-five magazines through Shop Ruger. They were $33.95 each less the 20% off coupon that Ruger encloses in every gun purchase. I posted a Hickok45 video that is entertaining, but I wish he would have been shooting from some type of bench because I don’t see any reason to buy the charger to shoot while you are standing.
