Practice, Practice, Practice!

Today was a beautiful day to shoot. I have not shot a handgun since December because I finally published my book in January and February and March I have been busy selling the book. Today’s range time was shooting 1911s, and it’s been over seven months since I fired a 1911. A Wilson Combat, A Sig Sauer, and my Colt Gold Cup Match, which I purchased in the 1980s, were my weapons of choice. I posted some targets to emphasize the need to practice. The targets were set at 24 feet. The average distance in a defensive situation is 17-21 feet. I practice by shooting at 1-2 second intervals. The first target was shooting my Wilson Combat. This is an expensive 1911 that is a very accurate pistol. I started off shooting left. The next target was shooting the Sig, the third shooting the Colt, and the last was the Wilson Combat. Notice the difference in the first and last target. Practice could save your life.
