We live in a crazy world today and the number of home invasions is increasing dramatically! Nationally an alarming number of home invasions are directed at the elderly population. Through research and good advice over the years, I have some tips that might be useful. (1) An alarm system with signs strategically placed in your yard. If you are home during the day, set the alarm. Remember that the thug breaking into your home won’t knock on the door. (2) Lighting is a burglar’s worst enemy at night. (3) Never leave things outside that could be used by the criminal such as a ladder, hammer, etc. (4) Close the blinds, shades, or curtains at night. (5) I know this doesn’t appeal to everyone, but get training on firearms and have home protection. There is an appropriate joke that pertains to this. A lady called 911 and said someone was breaking into her home. The 911 operator asked her if she had a gun in the house. The lady said no, I don’t believe in guns. 911 operator responds I hope you believe in God because the police are ten minutes away. I posted a few photos of my security. If anyone is interested in gun safety and training, I try to give a couple of classes a year and, if anyone is interested, contact me on Facebook messenger.
