Fifty years ago I traded an over and under 38 special derringer to my Dad for a 1941 German Luger that my brother, Ron, brought back from Germany at the end of World War Two. I didn’t like the derringer and had no intentions of ever owning another one. After fifty years, I changed my mind. I purchased a Bond Arms Texan that is chambered in 45 Colt or 410 shotgun shells. The quality and fun factor of this derringer is excellent. The Texan has a six inch barrel and I purchased a four and a half inch barrel in case I want to use it as a concealed carry. I posted a target that I fired two 410 00buck with four pellets from seventeen feet, and two from twenty-five feet. There is quite a change in the spread of the pellets. I fired two slugs and two 45 Colt cartridges at twenty-five feet, and I believe the 00 buck is the best for self defense. Bond Arms engraved The Texan free as part of the promotion for the introduction of this excellent pistol. I posted a Hickok45 video and a Bond Arms safety video.
